Living it up in Grenada
The beach directly below the Tamarind House (Magazine Beach) is one of the best on the Island. It is anchored on south end by one of the top restaurants in Grenada, The Aquarium, which conveniently offers rental chairs, beverages, and food to patrons of the beach., as well as Sunday afternoon live music and upscale BBQ.
Magazine Beach is also one of the best snorkeling areas on the island, with Caribbean reefs just yards away from the shore (we provide all the necessary equipment).
By car, the capital of the island, St. Georges, is only about 4 1/2 miles down the main road or a 15 minute drive, 10 minutes to the 2 mile long white sand Grand Anse area for water activities, fun bars and snacks. Grab a local delicacy, called roti, and enjoy this messy but delicious curried wrap standing roadside along with Grenadians on their lunch break. Travel into the colorful, bustling spice market to barter for fresh nutmeg and spices from smiling ladies. There are endless restaurants and activities, easily accessible by car or taxi. Some might want to experience the local buses going in and out of the popular areas to town, or travel up 1,800 feet above sea level to the crater lake “Grand Etang”, which was once an active volcano and now a picturesque place to begin hikes on jungle paths or sight monkeys. There are also a number of botanical gardens and waterfalls, which are accessible by car or hikes of various level of difficulty.
After a busy day, discover of new beach to relax on and “lime” with some of the most friendly and welcoming people on earth. Grenada truly is a tropical paradise, with something for everyone: sunny beaches, beautiful waters, delicious cuisine, friendly locals willing to help, and lush jungle mountains. Come find out for yourself what makes it so special.
